Years at CrossFit Gotham: 9

Have Muscles....Will travel

When I was younger, I was always a part of a sports team. After i started working, i was looking for a sense of community and like minded athletes. Over the 9 years I’ve been at Gotham, my fitness journey has always been about staying active, relieving stress, and having fun. I’ve never been the best CrossFitter and more often than not, I am the last athlete to finish a workout, but I’ve slowly progressed over the years and am always happy just to be here

When did you start at Gotham?
January 2nd, 2013
What was your first year like?
My first year of CrossFit was a learning experience. While I'd always been an athlete, I'd never lifted weights before. It took some time to get used to the movements and to feel comfortable performing them.
What your fav WOD?
10 sets of 1 - clean and jerk or backsquats
And least favorite???
10k of running, rowing or skiing
You’ve been all over the world, where have you gone?
I've been to all 7 continents and 35 countries.
As a world traveler, how has your fitness contributed to your trips?
Fitness is a big part of traveling. I'm typically more active on a trip than I normally am at home/work. My fitness has allowed me to climb 500 steps to see a waterfall, hike volcanoes and ancient ruins, kayak through mangroves, snorkel with sea lions, and walk more than 20,000 steps a day in Disney World.
What is your perspective on the world’s fitness overall?
Unlike the US, most places I've visited don't have much fast food. They tend to eat more natural foods ans ingredients and less processed food which contributes to better health. Portion size also contributes to this since no countries portions are as big as ours. Another example would be Portugal which is naturally hilly so simply walking around is a work out.
